I forgot my master password

Lacre is encrypted end to end: your master password isn't stored anywhere, so nobody can recover it, not even us. Without it, the vault can't be opened. If you remember it but lost your Secret Key, it is in your Emergency Kit (Settings → Emergency Kit and Secret Key).

How do I turn on AutoFill?

On your iPhone or iPad, go to Settings → General → AutoFill & Passwords and turn on Lacre. When you sign in to a website or an app, choose Lacre above the keyboard.

How do I move to a new iPhone?

Sign in to the same iCloud account on the new device and install Lacre. Tap “I already have a vault” → “From iCloud”, then enter your master password and the Secret Key from your Emergency Kit.

Does Lacre work without iCloud?

Yes. Your vault stays on the device. Make encrypted backups from Settings → Make an encrypted backup, and keep them somewhere safe.

Why can't I dictate?

Lacre only uses speech recognition that runs on your device, so nothing you say leaves it. The first time you dictate in a language your device doesn't have yet, it downloads it from Apple (this needs a connection, once). If it can't, you can type instead. Choose the dictation language (Español or English) on the dictation screen; it doesn't have to be your iPhone's language.

How do I import from another password manager?

Use Import, in Settings or in the ⋯ menu. Lacre reads exports from Apple Passwords, 1Password, Bitwarden, Chrome, Edge, Brave, Firefox, LastPass, Dashlane, KeePass/KeePassXC, Proton Pass and NordPass, and the QR code of Google Authenticator. Delete the exported file once you're done: it isn't encrypted.

How do I delete everything?

Settings → Delete vault removes your vault from this device and from iCloud. It can't be undone.
